M37 is the short hand used to refer to the 37th Mersenne prime. Specifically it is [math]\displaystyle{ 2^{3021377}-1 }[/math]. This number was discovered to be prime on January 27th, 1998 by Roland Clarkson, using Prime95 written by George Woltman. The number is 909,526 decimal digits long.
This prime number was the third record prime found by the GIMPS project.
