The user is the person that uses a piece of software, a computer, or interacts with a website. A system administrator or operator of a mainframe or supercomputer may allow several users access at once. In institutional settings, typically the user has rights that are limited by the administrator or Sys-Op.
In GIMPS, terms like: participant, producer, contributor, or account may be synonymous with user.
