# Chris Caldwell

**Chris Caldwell** is a professor of mathematics at the University of Tennesse at Martin. He has long been interested in prime numbers. He earned his B.S. in Mathematics at California State University, Hayward in 1979 (the same time Landon Curt Noll and Laura A. Nickel were there and finding M25 and M26). He received his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley, where Dr. Lehmer taught.

Dr. Caldwell maintains the Prime Pages, (quite a valuable resource). Among the features of this site are:

- Prime Curios: a collection of curiosities, wonders and trivia related to prime numbers.
- Database of largest known primes: The "Guinness book" of prime number records. Includes the 5000 largest known primes and smaller ones of selected forms (like Mersennes).
- Links to many more pages on prime history, programs, and theory.
- Mirror of another site (now dead?) that has many useful pages.
